A Sincere Thank You From the Wanderlust Souls at Paupers

Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawaii

By Lakshmi:

Today marks a very special milestone for us at Paupers.  It is our 2ooth post and in just over five months we have had over 13,000 visitors from around the world visit our little alcove in cyberspace.

I want to take a moment to extend a sincere thank you to each and every one of our readers.  Through our posts and your feedback, we have been enriched with the ability to network with other wanderlust souls across the universe who continue to encourage us each day.   To us, writing about travel is sheer joy….the fact that you all chose to read us is a real privilege.

As mentioned in our posts, we start and end our days thinking about travel.  We talk incessantly about trips we have taken and places we would like to go to.  When anyone talks about their travels, we jump right in to listen.  We take equal joy in the actual act of travel as we do living vicariously through the adventures of others.

We dream about locales, people, hotels, hikes…there’s just too much out there to experience.  We devour frequent travel blogs to see how we can squeeze in yet another trip without breaking the bank.  We read twitter feeds from a multitude of hospitality companies, design firms, restaurants and more to keep us dreaming.  Our home and electronic devices are brimming with books, articles, tips and pictures that keep tempting us each day.

There is so much to do and experience and having the ability to share a little slice of our joy/adventure and tips with you all just makes our life complete. And please continue to share your incredible experiences with us! We want to continue the dialogues, the exchange of stories is what makes this so tremendous.

Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts and please keep visiting and sharing your thoughts.  You complete our circle of life!

Courtyard Mumbai – Felt Like a Home Away From Home

Room at Courtyard Mumbai

By Lakshmi:

Just this year, work and life have deposited me at the Courtyard Mumbai three times.  Having stayed at the JW Marriott in the city not too long ago, I approached this property with a little trepidation.  It was the proximity to the international airport and needing a convenient travel base that convinced me to stay.  Across my stays, here’s what has made me feel so comfortable that I have been recommending it to family and friends.

– For those who have landed in Mumbai after a long international flight, the last thing you want to do is go stand at a check in counter waiting to get checked in in the middle of the night.  At this property, a lovely staff member greeted me, escorted me to my room and handled the paper work within the room.  A small gesture, but so appreciated.

– There is a really nice restaurant on site and the breakfast spread is substantial.  On arising early after eating insipid meals on a long plane ride, the buffet is a welcoming way to begin your day.

– The concierge team embodies service in everything they do.  We asked about getting a local SIM card late at night and they researched it.  We needed a car to get around and they recommended the most cost-effective options.  We were waiting for a while to have a friend pick us up and they asked if they could make a local call to find out what the hold up was. And when we returned within a few days for a repeat stay, we were welcomed back like some long-lost friends!

– The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, spotless and include free wifi.

– For those who may not have stayed at the Courtyard brand overseas, the Courtyard in Mumbai rivals many a full service Marriott stateside.

I will warn you that the hotel is not located in a pretty part of town.  It is on a very congested road and not really a place from which you embark on long walks and see picturesque sights.  But if you are staying in town for a short period of time and want  a very effective property close to the airport, you would be hard pressed finding a better value for the money than the Courtyard.

Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando

Orlando has more attractions than you can shake a stick at. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Wet and Wild, Sea World, and a plethora of theme parks await you in this haven for children and adults alike. When it comes to staying in Orlando however, many families are torn between saving money at an outside hotel or staying at one of the Disney or Universal properties to make the trip charming and enjoyable for the kids. Luckily, there’s a way to do both.

The Nickelodeon Suites Resort is located equidistant from Disney and Universal. If you rent a car during your stay, you can easily hit both attractions and stay somewhere the kids will enjoy. Most Disney resorts are highly regarded for their family-friendly activities and unique theme. The Nickelodeon resort offers these amenities at a much cheaper price while not sacrificing activities that the kids go nuts for. The resort is packed with two water parks, each with seven slides for thrill-seekers and the littlest adventurers. In addition, each room is a suite with a kids area souped up with video games, their own TV, and colorful furniture.

Every morning, treat yourself to “The Mall”, a section of the resort with shops, theaters, restaurants, and the resort’s award-winning character breakfast. Here, Spongebob, Dora, Cosmo, Wanda, and Patrick all meet up with you for a classic American meal.

We highly recommend checking out the Nickelodeon Suites Resort the next time you plan an Orlando vacation.
