You are never too old for a picnic. There is nothing quite like the feeling of basking in the sun’s rays while enjoying scrumptious sandwiches, delicious frozen drinks, and plenty of finger-friendly appetizers. Perhaps the best location for an outdoor meal is the Castillo del Morro, located in beautiful old San Juan. The fortress stands on the tip of a peninsula, guarding the city from invaders with its majestic stone walls and menacing cannons. After enjoying a delicious lunch in this perfect mix of man-made and natural beauty, we knew there was no question as to why the Castillo del Morro is considered one of the most beautiful castles in the world.

The Castillo del Morro is separated from Old San Juan by a large field that is considered historic land as it was the backdrop for several historical battles. Since the lawn is maintained with such diligence and care, seeing children running around, kites soaring in the sky, and families enjoying a nice meal is never a rare sight. We suggest checking out one of the quaint stores in Old San Juan. Here you can take out delicious sandwiches and soups as well as local specialties. For dessert, try to find one of the several frozen yogurt carts near the castle. Everything is made from local ingredients, and the pineapple flavor in particular tastes divine.

After you eat, feel free to explore the catacombs of the castle. One of the most exciting things to do is take pictures out of the various portholes. Some face the Atlantic Ocean while others offer breathtaking views of Old San Juan’s historic buildings. In addition, located adjacent to the castle is Puerto Rico’s largest cemetery. The cemetery is home to an array of significant tombstones as well as a building that serves as a commemoration to the dead. From the castle, you can get a fantastic bird’s-eye view of it all.

The Castillo del Morro also offers plenty of ways to let the kids have their own adventure. Tunnels, towers, and mazes can be found throughout the castle and the little ones are sure to be amazed when they run into an exotic animal or find a hidden passageway.

Perhaps the best part of the castle is its ability to bring locals and tourists together. Cruise ship passengers, business travelers on break, local families, and honeymoon couples can all be found on the field enjoying a memorable afternoon together.

The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Boca Raton

The rooms at this Waldorf-Astoria will surely make similar properties jealous. While some five star hotels promise luxury, the Waldorf aims at making you feel like a king. The star of this property would be the wide variety of restaurants. The Palm Lounge is located in the main building and features a stunning atrium that lets in plenty of natural sunlight. As the name suggests, the restaurant is filled with Palm Trees with free wireless internet and casual American fare.

If you’re into a more chic way of ending your day, check out Morimoto, a sushi bar founded by Iron Chef Morimoto himself. And to keep the kids’ sweet tooths satisfied, a 1950’s-themed Ice Cream Parlor right across from Morimoto will surely do the trick.

Perhaps the best beverage at the restaurant is offered for free near the reception desk. A sweet, nectar-like lemonade is provided on behalf of the hotel staff, and is absolutely divine when served with a thin slice of lime.

When it comes to amenities, the Waldorf at Boca Raton is truly an oasis. Award-winning golf courses, beautiful pools, tennis courts, water sports, and more are all available within walking distance or a short, ten-minute shuttle ride. If you can imagine it, you can do it at the Waldorf.

There are countless aspects of Point Pleasant, New Jersey that make us to want to come back every year. Maybe it’s the thrilling boardwalk rides or the fun but fierce games of mini golf. Wait, scratch that–it’s enjoying time with family and friends on the Jersey shore, while chomping on delicious thin crust pizza at Joey Tomatoes.

Joey Tomatoes is located in a charming yellow building and is the mix between a sports bar and your neighborhood pizzeria. With pies made to order or slices ready to hit the beach, Joey’s gives you plenty of ways to enjoy their always fresh pies. One of the main reasons why we return to Joey’s every time we’re at the shore is simply their exceptional service. You are welcomed with a smile and served by some of the nicest people on the boardwalk. The passion the cooks have for their pizza is endearing and it shows in how delicious each pie tastes when it comes out of the oven straight to your table. Whether you enjoy tons of toppings or prefer just cheese and basil, Joey Tomatoes knows how to bring New York-style pizza to one of New Jersey’s favorite beaches.

In the real estate world, location is everything, and Joey Tomatoes is perfectly situated on the Boardwalk adjacent to video arcades and fun houses. If you want to work up an appetite, challenge your family and friends to a pirate-themed mini golf course located ON TOP of the restaurant. The only real downside we see in Joey Tomatoes is that it is expensive. A pie will cost you 21 dollars, assuming you want plain cheese. However, we manage to work our way around it because when it comes to authentic New York pizza with a view of the Atlantic Ocean, Joey’s really can’t be beat.
